“Annual Zonal Workshop of KVKs of Zone - VIII” organized

7 - 9 July, 2022, Anand, Gujarat

The Annual Zonal Workshop on “KVKs of Zone - VIII comprising of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa” was jointly organized by the ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Pune, Maharashtra and Anand Agricultural University, Anand, Gujarat at AAU, Anand from 7^th to 9^th July, 2022.

Inaugurating the Workshop, Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR highlighted the crop production scenario in the country including Pulses and Oilseeds. The DDG stressed on making the all-round efforts in scaling their production / productivity in the country. The diverse and varied subjects including stability in Pulses production, quality of planting material, Natural / Organic Farming Models, Precision Farming, Integrated Farming Practices, Agricultural Start-Ups and the showcasing of these technologies for the wider adoption was also accentuated by Dr. Singh.

Dr. K.B. Kathiria, Vice-Chancellor, Anand Agricultural University, Anand, Gujarat outlined the key role of Krishi Vigyan Kendras in the progress of agriculture.

Dr. N.K. Gontia, Vice-Chancellor, Junagadh Agricultural University, Junagadh, Gujarat underlined the importance of the Review Meeting in enabling the self-sufficiency in food grains and other commodities by the country.

Dr. R.M. Chauhan, Vice-Chancellor, Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University, Sardarkrushinagar, Gujarat highlighted the role of Millets for fulfilling the need for food & feed and recommended the adoption of the Integrated Cropping / Farming Systems and women empowerment.

Dr. Z.P. Patel, Vice-Chancellor, Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari, Gujarat accentuated the impacts of social sciences and KVKs in self-sustenance.

Shri H.H. Adrushya Kadsiddheshwar Swamiji, Chairman, Kaneri Math, Kolhapur, Maharashtra stressed on the increased production keeping in view the population explosion. The need for maintaining the biodiversity, soil health, employment generation and safe storage of food grains & other commodities while containing COVID-19 and such other Pandemics was also underlined by him.
