ARYA Project in Rajasthan and Gujarat Reviewed

ARYA Project in Rajasthan and Gujarat ReviewedZonal Committee Meeting of ‘Attracting & Retaining Youth in Agriculture’ (ARYA) project was held at ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institutes today. The objective of the meeting was to review the progress and action plan of KVKs situated at Rajasthan and Gujurat.

Dr. S.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI Jodhpur in his remark emphasized on the active role of KVKs to facilitate, sensitise and mobilise the rural youth through technological backstopping, formation of groups/association in the areas of knowledge management, input management, processing management and post-harvest management to make the project successful. He also stressed on identification of need based enterprises such as floriculture in peri-urban areas, processing & value addition in milk especially in Rajkot district of Gujarat.

Dr. O. P. Yadav, Director, ICAR-Central Arid Zone Research Institute, Jodhpuremphasised on marketing aspect by creating forward and backward linkage. He stressed to create round the year employment for youth through entrepreneurship development for sustaining interest of youth in agriculture.

Dr. Ishwar Singh, Director Extension Education, Agricultural University, Jodhpur stressed on the diversification of the farm activities over the traditional farming practices for higher income.
