An interaction workshop between the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) was organized on 3rd August, 2017 at NASC Complex, New Delhi by Agricultural Engineering Division of ICAR, New Delhi. The welcome address was given by Dr K. Alagusundaram, DDG (Engineering), ICAR. The presidential address was delivered by Dr Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary DARE and DG, ICAR. The guest of honour addresses were given by Shri S. K. Singh, Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor of ICAR, and also by Mr J. N. Kansotiya, Principal Secretary, Govt. of Madhya Pradesh. The eminent scientists and researcher from all over India participated in the workshop. The interaction workshop was hold with following objectives:
- To showcase the renewable energy technology (RET) that are ready for larger scale demonstration and for commercialization
- To assess the enabling measures required to facilitate the use of small scale and cost effective RETs by marginal and small holder farmers,
- Identify agro-ecological zones and scale up of use of RETs for the purpose of Mechanization, irrigation, post-harvest handling/storage/processing and agricultural waste management.
The DG ICAR emphasized the importance of Agricultural mechanization and post-harvest processing. He said that we have thousands of technology to implement and lauded the efforts of Agricultural engineering Division of ICAR and IFAD for this initiative for increasing the adoption of Agricultural Engineering Technologies.
