ICAR- Indian Institute of Oilseeds Research, Hyderabad organised world soil day under the Farmers FIRST Programme in Rampur Thanda, a tribal hamlet in Vikarabad district of Telangana today.
Dr. A.Vishnuvardhan Reddy, Director, ICAR-IIOR briefed the participants about the activities taken up by the institute in the village under the farmers FIRST programme. He highlighted the skill development provided to the farmers under the farmers FIRST programme by the institute in the soil sampling method. He also emphasised on the importance of soil health and advised the farmers for focussing on INM.
Around 90 Soil health cards were distributed to the farmers of Rampur thanda and Gattepalli villages. Pamplets in local language on the importance of soil testing and the method of soil sampling was distributed to the farmers.
Scientists from ICAR-IIOR and PJTSAU, officials from the State Department of Agriculture, officials from the Soil Testing Laboratory, Sarpanch of Gattepalli Gram Panchayat participated in the above event.
Around 185 farmers from four villages viz., Rampur thanda, Gattepalli, Aampalli and Gurudhotla attended in the programme.
