ICAR – CRIDA celebrated its 33rd Foundation Day today.
Dr. David Bergvinson, Director General, ICRISAT, Chief Guest of the event, appreciated the contributions of CRIDA to the rainfed farming community as well as climate change research. He highlighted the CRIDA coordination of ICAR flagship program NICRA and District Agriculture Contingency Plans developed for 623 districts so far were much appreciated across the country. He opined that translating science to profitable adoption, integrating IT in agricultural research with ample use of spatial data and crop modeling for future climate could play a vital role in national agricultural productivity enhancement programs to meet food security challenges. He also mentioned that monsoon and markets are two key challenges that are faced by Indian Agriculture.
Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director, CRIDA while welcoming the invitees appreciated the efforts of all the staff members of the Institute and also predecessors of the Institute who brought laurels and recognition to the organization.
On this occasion, 18 farm innovators from six states were honored for their innovations in agriculture and allied enterprises for achieving sustainable productivity through novel innovations.
