The Vulnerability Assessment and Sensitization Programme on “Climate Change Impact on the Coastal Wetlands of Odisha” was organized by the ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institutes, Barrackpore, Kolkata at Devi River Mouth at Astaranga, Puri District, Odisha today.
Interacting with the fishers, Dr. B.K. Das, Director, ICAR-CIFRI, Barrackpore underlined the impacts of extreme climatic events on the Coastal Wetlands and adaptation & mitigation strategies.

The State Fisheries Officials briefed about the developmental and livelihood support Schemes under the PMMSY for the coastal fishers affected by the extreme climatic events.
Dr. U.K. Sarkar, Head of Department & Principal Investigator, NICRA Project highlighted the adverse impacts of climate change with reference to the Coastal Wetlands.
Shri Kunar Marandi, DDF; Shri Prakash Chandra Nayak, ADF, Government of Odisha; Shri Subha Kar, Social Worker and Shri Mishal P. & Dr. H.S. Swain, Scientists and Project Staff Members of NICRA were also present during the occasion.
The Programme registered participation by 150 Coastal Fishers of Astaranga, Puri, Odisha.
