Agriculture Education Day celebrated at NRC on Mithun, Nagaland

agri-edu-day-nrcmithun-07-08-2012-1The Agriculture Education Day was celebrated on 07 August 2012 by the National Research Centre on Mithun (ICAR) for promoting the spirit of agriculture and allied subjects among the young minds of Nagaland on the occasion of birth day of Dr. M. S. Swaminathan who heralded the first green revolution in India.

An extempore speech competition among the school children of local S.F.S School and King David School, Medziphema and students of School of Agricultural Sciences and Rural Development (SASRD), Nagaland University, Nagaland was held. Students spoke  on soil erosion, livestock rearing, banana cultivation, fisheries, climate change, Agricultural system in Poly-houses. Cash prizes and Merit Certificates were given to the successful participants.

agri-edu-day-nrcmithun-07-08-2012-2Students led by their concern teachers enthusiastically participated in the day long programmes and took pledge for creating awareness and to bring improvement in Agriculture Education among their fellow students and the community in Nagaland Joint. Director of ICAR, Res. Complex, NEH, Region, Nagaland Centre, Dr. B. Deka. Dr. Amod Sharma, Professor of Economics and Dr. K. K. Jha, Professor, Rural Development, SASARD, Nagaland University along with the scientists and other staff of the Institute participated in the celebration.
