Workshop on “Fruit cracking and soil health management” organized

​The ICAR-National Research Centre on Pomegranate, Solapur organized one day’s workshop on “Fruit Cracking and Soil Health Management” on October 3, 2015. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. N. K. Krishna Kumar, Deputy Director General  (Horticultural Science), ICAR. Dr. Kumar also formally inaugurated the recently established pomegranate processing unit at ICAR-NRCP Solapur.

Dr.R.K.Pal, Director, ICAR-NRCP explained the concept of total utilization of pomegranate for production of various high value products viz. Juice, RTS beverage, Pomegranate wine, pomegranate seed oil, use of pomegranate rind for pomegranate based mouth wash and extraction of bio-colour.

About 100 delegates form Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, U.P., Bihar and Delhi participated in the workshop. Eminent speakers specialized in the area of management of fruit cracking and soil health made presentations which were followed by interaction session with various stakeholders.
