Pre Kharif Kisan Sammelan

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, ICAR-Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research, Lucknow organized a Pre Kharif Kisan Sammelan here today.

Shri Kaushal Kishore, Member of Parliament, Mohanlalgnaj, Lucknow was the Chief Guest and Dr. O.K. Sinha, Director, IISR, Lucknow presided over the programme.

Chief guest Shri Kausal Kishore emphasized that farmers should avoid excess use of chemical fertilizer, pesticides. He mentioned there is need to conserve the traditional knowledge and ITK (Indigenous technical knowledge), which is treasure of our agriculture, without this agriculture cannot sustained and will not fulfil the requirement of future.

Earlier, Dr. O K Sinha, Director, ICAR-IISR welcomed the dignitaries and farmers; he focussed on developed technology of sugarcane and linked farmers for its dissemination at farmers field.

The objective of the programme was to create awareness among the farmers on developed latest technologies from various research institutions/agricultural universities and acquainting about effect of climate change on the various crop.

Directors of local ICAR Institutes and senior Government official participated in the meeting.
