Best Design Award at 100th Indian Science Congress- Pride of India Expo

ICAR Pavilion won Best Design Award at 100th Indian Science Congress- Pride of India Expo held during 3-7th January, 2013 at Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krinangan/ Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata. Dr. (Mrs.) Vijay Laxmi Saxena, General Secretary (Scientific Affairs), Indian Science Congress Association conferred the award in presence of Honorable Shri M.K. Narayanan, Governor of West Bengal and Dr. M.S. Swaminathan, Member of Parliament.

ICAR pavilion depicted strength of agricultural research, education and extension through illustrative and informative displays, models and live samples. Films on agricultural technologies were also screened which attracted large number of visitors. ICAR publications were also available on display and sale. Informative brochures were distributed on selected technologies and other issues of interest in Hindi, English and Bangla languages. Scientists from ICAR institutes interacted with visitors to provide first hand information on the displayed technologies. Jute artisans making unique show items and jewelry were the centre of attraction.

ICAR pavilion was visited by a large number of dignitaries and top level executives of various S&T organizations, PSUs and industries. Dr. M.S. Swaminathan appreciated the innovative displays and called the pavilion as 'most informative and meaningful'. Dr. S. Ayyappan, Secretary, DARE and DG, ICAR complimented and appreciated the efforts. Deputy directors general and directors of ICAR institutes also made appreciative comments on the ICAR pavilion.

A large number of students, young scientists, farmers and members of general public visited the pavilion and interacted with agricultural scientists to have more information on ICAR activities.

ICAR pavilion was conceptualized and organized by Directorate of Knowledge Management in Agriculture (DKMA).
