The regional research station of Central Arid Zone Research Institute (CAZRI), Leh organized a scientist-farmer interaction meet at village Saboo on 28 August 2013. It was primarily an on-field interaction meet where scientists shared practical farming tips with the farmers.
Dr. M.S. Raghuvanshi, Senior Scientist at research station discussed the farmer’s practices of raising crops and his observations on weed infestation. Farmers were sensitized about the harm of weeds on plant growth, crop productivity and taste of produce. Productivity constraints were explained to farmers through on-spot field demonstrations. The farmers were also advised to be more careful in farming and incorporate scientific ways for enhancing crop productivity.
Earlier, village head Mr. Rinchan Tundap welcomed the CAZRI team and Dr. P.C. Moharana, Principal scientist and In-charge, research station appraised the role of ICAR/CAZRI in this high altitude cold arid zone of Leh.
Over fifty famers and prominent village persons including Sarpanch and Nambardar participated in this event.
