Kalparasa launched at Goa

‘Kalparasa’ a fresh, hygienic and unfermented energy drink from coconut inflorescence has been launched at Goa recently by Dr. N.K. Krishna Kumar, DDG (Hort. Sci.), ICAR in a function jointly organized by ICAR-Central Plantation Crops Research Institute, Kasargod and Krishna Enterprises, Goa.  Speaking as Chief Guest he emphasized the relevance of ‘Kalparasa’ as a natural health drink as an alternative to aerated drinks.  He handed over the bottled kalparasa named as ‘Nanukalparasa’ to the Chairman of Nanu Enterprises Mr. Crisna (Bhau) Naik.

Dr. P. Chowdappa, Director, CPCRI, Kasaragod gave a detailed account of innovations made in Kalparasa collection, its quality standards, value addition, marketing and financial benefits  Mr. Orlando Rodrigues, Director of Agriculture released a technical bulletin on ‘Kalprasa- Collection and Value addition’ published by CPCRI, Kasargod.

Earlier, Shri  Pravas Naik M.D., M/S Krishna Plantations Pvt. Ltd. welcomed the dignitaries and said that their company signed MoU with CPCRI to collect hygienic and unfermented neera and assured that kalparasa will be made available in the local markets of Goa very soon.   Dr. K.B. Hebbar, Head, PB&PHT Division, CPCRI, Kasaragod demonstrated the collection of Kalparasa and proposed vote of thanks.

Farmers, entrepreneurs and academicians participated in the meeting.
