Rodent Management Campaigns at Chhattisgarh

ICAR-National Institute of Biotic Stress Management , Raipur organized rodent management campaigns at Baronda village of Tilda Tahsil on 20th -21st December, 2014 and Bodara village of Dhamtari district on 23rd - 24th December, 2014. The campaigns were organized in collaboration with Department of Agriculture, Department of Animal Husbandry Government of Chhattisgarh, Central Integrated Pest Management Centre and IGKV- Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dhamtari.

The objectives of these campaigns were to get acquainted on basic principles of rodent vector management, sensitizing the department officers on the role of rodents as vectors as well as about reservoir of several diseases transmitted to animals as well as human beings.  

Dr. T. P. Rajendran, Officer on Special Duty, NIBSM, Raipur, Dr. A.M.K. Mohan Rao, FAO Consultant and Former Joint Director, Vertebrate Pest Management, National Institute of Plant Health Management, Hyderabad, scientists from NIBSM, Raipur and officers from development departments participated in the campaign and advised the farmers.     

Over two hundred and fifty number of farmers participated in these campaigns.
