ICAR Joins Hands for ‘Swachch Bharat Mission’

Dr. S. Ayyappan, Secretary, DARE and DG, ICAR initiated the intensive cleanliness campaign under ‘Swachch Bharat Mission’ launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister today. While addressing, the ICAR fraternity, he remembered and paid tributes to Rashtra Pita Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary and highlighted his passion for cleanliness. He called upon ICAR officials and employees to voluntarily carry out cleaning of their office premises. He emphasized cleanliness should also include inner side of the human beings involving thoughts and vision. He urged cleanliness oath (Swachhata Shapath) should be followed by real action to realize the true gains.

Shri Arvind Kaushal, Additional Secretary, DARE and Secretary, ICAR administered Swachhata Shapath to officers and officials at Krishi Bhavan and Krishi Anusandhan Bhawan Campus.

Dr. Gurbachan Singh, Chairman, ASRB remarked on the importance of cleanliness in daily life by highlighting health, efficiency and performance benefits.

Deputy Directors General; Members of ASRB; Assistant Directors General; Senior Officials; Scientists and Staff members were present on the occasion.

Earlier, a Walkathon was organized at Rajpath (Delhi) by the Sports Authority of India in which ICAR employees also participated.

ICAR has already implemented an action plan for implementation across all the research establishments and Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) functioning at grass root level in various parts of the country. ICAR institutes have undertaken intensive campaign for cleanliness involving all the employees.
