Krishi Unnati Mela Closes by Felicitating Farmers

The three-day (19-21 March, 2016) National Krishi Unnati Mela organized at the sprawling campus of ICAR-IARI, New Delhi closed today by felicitating 45 progressive farmers from across the India.

Shri Radha Mohan Singh, Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister delivered the valedictory address and also launched a mobile app called Pusa Krishi. In his address, he reiterated the central role of new and innovative farm technologies in enhancing income of farmers. He said modern technologies and crop varieties must reach to farmers without any time lag and must be demonstrated on farmers’ fields for winning the confidence of farmers. The mobile app Pusa Krishi provides instant reach to high yielding varieties and new technologies develop by IARI, he added.

Dr.Sanjeev Kumar Balyan and Shri Mohanbhai Kundariya, Union Ministers of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare complimented organizers for the success of event and also appreciated farmers for their keen involvement.

Dignitaries felicitated farmers with IARI-Innovative Farmer Awards and IARI-Fellow Farmer Awards which include women farmers also.

Large number of farmers from across the country visited the fair and gained useful knowledge and information.

The mega event was organized by Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India in which Indian Council of Agricultural Research was a major partner and facilitator. Institutes of ICAR across the country are participated and exhibited farmer friendly technologies, innovations and products.
