Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Laid foundation Stone for College of Agriculture in Meghalaya

Shri Radha Mohan Singh, Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare laid foundation stone for College of Agriculture here today under Central Agricultural University, Imphal. He also inaugurated new academic block at College of Post Graduate Studies, Umiam. Addressing the gathering of faculty and students, he emphasized the important role of organic farming in enhancing farmer income vis-à-vis soil fertility and human health and desired the replication of Sikkim model in other north- eastern states. He also visited laboratory facilities, classrooms and expressed satisfaction over academic activities during visit to various schools in the College.

Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Balyan and Shri Mohanbhai Kalyanjibhai Kundariya, Union Ministers of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare also graced the occasion.

Prof. M. Premjit Singh, Vice Chancellor, Central Agricultural University, Imphal in his address welcomed Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister, Union Ministers of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and other dignitaries.

Dr. S. V. Ngachan, Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya, was also present on the occasion.
