Alternative Semi-Intensive System of Mithun Rearing Launched

Dr. H. Rahman, Deputy Director General (Animal Science), ICAR launched an alternative semi-intensive system of Mithun rearing, developed by ICAR-NRC on Mithun, Nagaland in the farmer’s fields at Molvom village of Medziphema block, Dimapur District today. Dr. Rahman requested the farmers to adopt the new system to improve their livelihood. He urged the institute to replicate the system in various parts of the region.

Dr. Abhijit Mitra, Director of the institute assured the farmers that such initiative will be replicated in other parts of the region.

The package of practices for semi-intensive Mithun rearing system is successfully practiced in the institute’s Mithun farm.

To demonstrate semi-intensive system of Mithun rearing in the farmer’s field, ICAR-NRCM, under Tribal Sub-plan (TSP), distributed nine Mithuns and one calf among three farmers of the village.
