An interactive meeting of Agricultural Education Division, ICAR, New Delhi and Comptrollers of Agricultural Universities was held at the ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM), Hyderabad on 28th December 2015 to discuss various issues pertaining to ICAR grants provided to the Agricultural Universities (AUs) under its plan scheme “Strengthening and Development of Higher Agricultural Education in India”.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Dr N S Rathore, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Education), ICAR. Dr Rathore emphasised upon the mutual partnership between the Agricultural Education Division, ICAR and Comptrollers of the Agricultural Universities for effective implementing the scheme and the crucial role of Comptrollers for bringing reforms and quality of education in the country.
Dr D Rama Rao, Director, NAARM, Hyderabad gave an overview of NAARM and its role in strengthening the National Agricultural Research System (NARS).
An invited talk on “Leadership issues: Balancing Service and Control” was delivered By Dr N P Rajasekhran from Guru Management Consultants. The talk focused on management approaches for effectiveness which ensures larger returns to the community. The need for taking several reformatory steps for better interdivision, ICAR)action between ICAR and AUs was emphasized.
Dr P S Pandey, Assistant Director General (Education Planning and Home Science) gave an account of various issues demanding immediate attention of the Comptrollers of AUs for implementation of the scheme.
Dr M B Chetti, ADG (HRD), discussed about several new initiatives for reforms of Indian agricultural education by strengthening the administration and management.
The Comptrollers of the AUs participated in the event.
