College of Fisheries, Lembucherra, Central Agriculture University, Imphal celebrated the 16th National Fish Farmers’ Day today. Padma Bhushan Prof. R.B. Singh, Chancellor, Central Agricultural University, Imphal inaugurated the event and highlighted the importance of Blue Revolution in the country. He expressed his admiration of the contribution made by Dr. Hiralal Chaudhury and Dr. K. H. Alikunhi who invented induced breeding technology on this day in the year 1957.
Prof. M. Premjit Singh, Vice- Chancellor of the University graced the occasion. Dr. Pramod Kumar Pandey, Dean, College of Fisheries delivered the welcome address.
Five fish farmers were awarded as “Best Fish Farmer” of their respective states.
Progressive Fish farmers from different states of NE participated in the programmme. Different farm related publications and fish farming calendars were released on the day by the dignitaries. Exhibition stalls were also set up in the college to showcase different achievements and activities undertaken by the college in the field of education, research and extension.
