Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare visited ICAR-IIWM, Bhubaneswar

Shri Radha Mohan Singh, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare visited ICAR- Indian Institute of Water Management, Bhubaneswar today. He had an interactive meeting with officials of Odisha State Department, Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology, ICAR Institutes / Regional Research Stations and KVKs to discuss about the progress of work done in different sectors of Agriculture.

Minister urged on synergy between State Agricultural University, ICAR institutes and State departments for increased pace of agricultural development in the region. He stressed on need for gender neutrality in research organizations as well as promotion of technologies friendly to farm women. He emphasized for capacity building programmes in the agricultural sector including horticulture, fisheries and animal husbandry for overall improvement of farm productivity and income.

Earlier, Shri Chhabilendra Roul, Additional Secretary DARE & Secretary ICAR welcomed dignitaries.

Shri B.K. Panda, MLA (Nuapada), Shri S.K.Pattanayak, Secretary Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (GoI), Prof.Dr.S. Pasupalak, Vice Chancellor, OUAT, Shri Manoj Ahuja, Principal Secretary, Agriculture & Farmers Empowerment (GoO), Dr. S.K. Chaudhari, ADG (S&WM) ICAR graced the occasion.

Commissioners/Directors of State Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Odisha Watershed Mission, Directors of local ICAR Institutes, Heads of Regional Stations of the nearby ICAR Institutes and KVKs participated in the discussion.
