A review meeting on Horticulture Technology Mission for North East and Himalayan States (MM-I) was held at KVK, Dhakrani, Dehradun on 20.01.2011 under the chairmanship of Horticulture Commissioner, Govt. of India, Dr. Gorakh Singh. The meeting was attended by Shri. G. S. Pandey, Additional Secretary/ Director Horticulture, Uttarakhand, Dr. J. C. Bhatt, Director Vivekanand Parvatiya Krishi Anusandhan Sansthan, Almora

The Horticulture Commissioner, Govt. of India appreciated efforts taken by KVK, Dept of Horticulture & Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture & Technology for farmers getting good quality of planting material which is the prime need to promote horticulture sector in the state. He emphasized to evaluate the varieties which are location specific and provide it to the farmers in different regions of Uttarakhand to serve the farming community and also directed to spread the technical know how among the farmers for its dissemination at larger scale. The efforts made by KVK, Dhakrani to produce seedlings in poly tunnel for vegetable seedlings viz; cauliflower, cabbage, cucumber, onion, brinjal and chilli was appreciated. It was stressed that collaborative efforts are needed for holistic development of horticulture in Uttarakhand
