Pantvarsity students won Zonal Elocution of Indian Agriculture Science Congress

Winner of Zonal Elocution Contest, Ashutosh Bhakuni being given prize by Vice-Chancellor of Pantvarsity, Dr. B.S. BishtZonal Elocution of Agriculture Universities and ICAR Institutes of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Delhi was organized at Pantnagar on 26th December, 2010 in which IARI, New Delhi; IVRI Bareilly; Narendra Dev University of Agriculture & Technology, Faizabad; Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture & Technology, Kanpur; Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Meerut; and G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar participated. This elocution was sponsored by Indian Agriculture Science Congress. The topic of the elocution was ‘Soil-Plant-Animal Health: Safety and Security’. Ashutosh Bhakuni from Pantnagar University won the contest and Mohit Arora form the same University won the runners up prize. These two winners will represent this zone in Indian Agricultural Science Congress to be held in February 2011.

Presiding over the function, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. B.S. Bisht, said that this elocution has immense importance in context of making the students involvement in contemporary issues of agricultural development of the country. He told that the last year’s participant form Pantnagar University who represented this zone in Science Congress 2010 at Kashmir won the contest at national level too. He expressed faith in the winners of this year also and hoped that they will bring laurels to the university and the zone.

Dean Agriculture, Dr. S.K.  Saini; Dean Agribusiness Management, Dr. B.K. Sikka; and Dean Technology, Dr. H.C. Sharma, acted as expert and judge of the contest. Dean Student Welfare, Dr. A.K. Karnatak welcomed the guests and participants of the event. Dr. S.K. Kashyap, Associate Professor, Agriculture Communication was the co-ordinator of zonal elocution at Pantnagar.
