Four New Krishi Vigyan Kendras in Odisha, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh

ICAR signs MoU with SAUs to set up 4 New KVKs

Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) will set up 4 new Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), two in Rajasthan and one each in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.

ICAR and State Agricultural Universities inked MoU to set up four new KVKs in Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan and Odisha, today.  Now, the total number of Krishi Vigyan Kendras rises to 626 in the country.

According to MoU, Orissa University of Agriculture & Technology will establish KVK in Sundergarh District of Odisha; Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture & Technology in Pratapgarh District of Rajasthan; Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University in Barmer District of Rajasthan; and Acharya N G Ranga Agricultural University in Krishna District of Andhra Pradesh.

Dr S Ayyappan, Secretary, DARE & Director General, ICAR appreciated the role of Krishi Vigyan Kendras and said that its popularisation among farmers is increasing across the country. Now, KVK is a household name for farmers and its stakeholders, said Dr Ayyappan.

Deputy Director General (Extension) of ICAR, Dr K D Kokate and Sri V. Nagi Reddy, VC, ANGRAU, Hyderabad; Prof SS Chahal, VC of Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture & Technology, Udaipur; Dr D P Ray, VC, Orissa University of Agriculture & Technology, Bhubaneswar; Dr A K Dahama, VC, Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner signed the MoU in the presence of Dr S Ayyappan, Secretary, DARE & Director General, ICAR at Krishi Bhawan.

Dr Swapan K Datta, DDG (Crop Sciences), Dr KML Pathak, DDG (Animal Sciences) and other senior officers of the Council were among the high dignitaries who were present there on the occasion.
