Dr. M. Mallikarjun Kharge, Union Minster for Labour & Employment inaugurated additional Krishi Vigyan Kendra of Gulbarga district, Karnataka at Raddewadgi on 12th January, 2013.He said that KVK caters the technological needs of farmer in the area and carry out the location specific demonstrations on the viable technology on the farmers’ fields which in turn builds the confidence of the farmers. He appealed the farmers to use this opportunity to reap maximum benefit in the changed agrarian situation i.e., increased irrigated area through Upper Krishna Irrigation Project and number of barrages constructed across the rivers in the district. Further, he assured that Govt. of India is ready to support this kind of vocational training efforts which committed for the growth and development of the farmers.
Mr. N. Dharam Singh, Member of Parliament, Bidar and former Chief Minister of Karnataka also addressed the gathering on the occasion and urged the famers to get the benefit of scientists placed at KVK.
Dr. B.V. Patil, Vice-Chancellor, UAS, Raichur spoke on the importance of Krishi Vigyan Kendra in the area and mandates and its relevancy in transfer of technology for varied farming situations i.e., dry land as well as irrigated.
Mr. Allam Prabhu Patil, Member, Board of Management, UAS, Raichur and Member of Legislative Council, Karnataka welcomed the gathering and Sri. Siddanna Gouda Patil, Member of Legislative Assembly, Karnataka presided over the function.
Dr. S. Prabhu Kumar, Zonal Project Director of Zone-VIII informed that 31 out of 631 KVKs in the country are in Karnataka and this KVK is 601st.
Dr. K.P. Viswanatha, Director of Extension, UAS, Raichur proposed the vote of thanks.
