Dr. K. D. Kokate, Deputy Director General (Agriculture Extension), ICAR inaugurated the XX Biennial Workshop on All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Home Sciences at University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Kokate highlighted the importance of food and nutrition security for the farming community of the country considering the implications of climate change. To achieve the AICRP objectives, he advised the women scientists to motivate the farm women with market-led extension programmes with the special emphasis on the timely supply of critical inputs backed by technical information and infrastructural facilities.
On this occasion, Dr. R.R. Hanchinal, Vice Chancellor, UAS Dharwad said that AICRP Home Sciences plays important role in building the capacity of the farm women for the effective management of agricultural activities. He has also mentioned to create suitable environment to educate the farm women on secondary agriculture for minimizing the post harvest losses and to popularize value addition activities.
Dr. Krishna Srinath, Director, DRWA & Project Coordinator,AICRP highlighted the AICRP activities and achievements. She also laid out the future plan of the AICRP.
On this occasion, publications, CDs and training modules on various aspects of home science activities were released in different languages. An exhibition on technological interventions of home sciences was also arranged.
More than 80 Home Scientists from 9 AICRP centres and DRWA and Faculties of UAS, Dharwad were also participated in the event.
