ICAR Research Complex for Eastern Region (ICAR-RCER), Patna, celebrated its 13th Foundation Day on 22nd February, 2013. Dr. Mangala Rai, Former Secretary, DARE and Director General, ICAR & Agriculture Advisor to Chief Minister, Bihar graced this occasion as Chief Guest. In his address, he touched many aspects and challenges faced by the country in the field of Agricultural Education, Extension and Management. He emphasized to reorient the research and extension priorities according to the changing diverse needs of the farming community. He also emphasized to spearhead the agricultural technology in speedy and integrated manner with the modern ICT tools. Dr. Rai elaborated upon the initiatives and incentives provided by state government for education in the agriculture stream.
Sh. A. K. Sinha, IAS, Agricultural Production Commissioner graced the occasion as Guest of Honor. He stressed to establish some more ICAR institutes in the region for speedy research and diffusion of agricultural technologies. He desired to conduct impact assessment studies of few schemes of Government of Bihar for recommendations of corrective measures needed to enhance technology transfer programmes.
Dr. B. P. Bhatt, Director, ICAR-RCER gave a brief account of the Institute technologies, activities, outreach programmes, research publications, technologies commercialized, and researchable issues for 12th Five Year Plan in systematic manner. He also emphasized on the need-based focused research programmes to cater the diverse needs of the eastern India.
