Krishi Vigyan Kendra-II, Katia, Sitapur organised one day Kisan Mela-cum-AgriExpo on the theme “Knowledge sharing in sustainable development”. Dr Lakhan Singh, Principal Scientist, Zonal Project Directorate, Zone-IV, Kanpur advised farmers to adopt salt tolerant varieties and diversified agriculture models ensuring optimum utilization of resources in their farms and highlighted the importance of proper communication between farmers and scientists.
Dr. A.K. Singh, Principal Scientist, NBFGR, Lucknow urged for integrated fish farming with rice and makhana for high return. Dr. A.K. Singh, Sr Scientist, IINRG, Ranchi advised farmers to adopt lac cultivation on Flemingia semialata as mixed cropping system with vegetable to earn more and more income.
A Kisan Sangoshthi was also arranged in which Scientists/SMS interacted with the farmers, discussed and clarified the queries about emerging out subjects related to agricultural problems.
Around 1200 farmers visited the Kisan Mela and used this opportunity to know various aspects of agriculture from the 15 different stalls put up by various developmental research organizations, ICAR, pesticide and fertilizers industries, seeds and implements, Sugar factory, NGOs, etc.
A Quarterly Magazine ‘BHUMIZA’ was also released by the chief guest published by KVK-II, Sitapur which includes information on cropping system, safe use of pesticide, improved animal productivity, soil testing techniques, balanced diet etc.
