Sukhi Kisan, Bharat Mahaan said Dr. S. Ayyappan

Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research (IISR) is extending dedicated service to the citizen of Lucknow by making available fresh sugarcane juice at its Ikshu Hub, said Dr. S. Ayyappan, Secretary, DARE and Director General, ICAR during his visit to IISR on May 28, 2013. Dr. Ayyappan visited Ikshu Hub and congratulated Director, IISR and his team for making available summer cool drink in the form of fresh cane juice to the public. At this Hub the Institute is making available juice, chemical free jaggery, vinegar, syrup, jaggery granules and other value added products of sugarcane juice for general public. Dr K. D. Kokate, Deputy Director General (Agril. Extension), ICAR also appreciated the efforts of the Institute in providing the fresh and organic sugarcane juice and other products to the citizen of city of Nawab.

R & D prototype of three new sugarcane machines namely Sugarcane trench planter, Plant residue shredder, Stubble shaver cum fertilizer applicator developed by the Institute were also released by Dr. Ayyappan. He closely observed the operation of these machines in the sugarcane fields at IISR. Dr. Ayyappan also inaugurated newly constructed KVK building in IISR premise. At the inaugural ceremony Dr. K.D. Kokate, Dr. S. Solomon, Director, IISR, Dr. H. Ravishankar, Director, CISH, Dr. J.K. Jena, Director, NBFGR, Director Extension of SAUs, scientists, KVK personnel and large number of progressive farmers were present. Dr. Ayyappan visited exhibition stalls organized by KVKs and appreciated their efforts in extending technology to the farmers. On this occasion he also coined the slogan Sukhi Kisan-Bharat Mahan” and appealed all present there to work hard for realization of this slogan in true sense.
