A training-cum-workshop for Animal Science specialists in Zone VII was organized at Zonal Project Directorate, Zone-VII, Jabalpur on 26th and 27th July 2013.
In his inaugural speech, Dr. V.S.Tomar, Vice Chancellor, Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya (JNKVV), Jabalpur highlighted the importance of livestock in agriculture sector and urged scientists of KVKs to reach the unreached livestock farmers. He also advised KVK scientists to focus upon providing entrepreneurship opportunities to rural youths through dairying, poultry and other animal husbandry activities.
During his address, Dr. G.P. Mishra, Vice Chancellor, Nanansaheb Deshmukh Veterinary Science University (NDVSU), Jabalpur emphasized upon the visible impact of technology on the farmers’ lives to empower them economically and socially and urged to disseminate the technologies at farmers’ doorstep.
Dr. H. Rahman, Director, Project Directorate on Animal Disease Management and Surveillance (PDADMAS), Banglore focused upon the contribution of Animal Husbandry sector in GDP and economic losses caused by various diseases to the farmers and country. He also discussed about the disease forecasting model of PDADMAS which can be used by KVK scientists for helping farmers in effective disease management.
Dr. Anupam Mishra, ZPD, Zone-VII highlighted the need to focus on Animal Husbandry sector in the integrated way along with the Farming. He also urged scientists to focus upon the quality fodder production and ensuring timely vaccination of animals.
During the two-day training-cum-workshop, Total 28 scientists from three states (Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha) participated in the programme. Experts from NDVSU, Jabalpur facilitated and guided the scientists in improving their work plan for the year 2013-14.
