Bangalore Regional Research Centre of CIFA Organized Interface Meeting

A farmer-scientist interface meeting was organized on 24th October, 2013 at Bangalore Regional Research Center of Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (CIFA), Bhubaneswar.

Dr. N. Sridhar, Principal Scientist and SIC of the Centre welcomed the participants and briefed about the objectives of the meeting. Dr. P. Jayasankar, Director, CIFA In his presentation on Freshwater Aquaculture Livelihood Options and Promising Technologies emphasized upon the carp fry and fingerling production, grow out carp culture,  grow out culture of freshwater prawn, ornamental fish farming, pearl culture, integrated fish farming and post-harvest value addition. He also distributed peninsular carp Labeo fimbriatus fingerlings to the farmers.

In their lecture, Dr. M.R. Raghunath, Dr. Gangadhar Baralaya, Mr. Raghvendra, C.H and Dr. N. Sridhar focused on various issues concerning peninsular aquaculture research and development.  Dr. Feroze Khan, SIC, Regional Center, CIFRI screened a film on Reservoir Fisheries on the occasion.

Scientists, technical personnel of CIFRI Regional center and over 35 farmers participated the Meet. A visit to integrated farming site was also organized on the occasion.
