Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute (CSWRI), Avikanagar organized a training programme on ‘Demonstration of Estrus Synchronization and Artificial Insemination (AI) in Sheep’ from 11th-17th February, 2014. The training was sponsored by Central Wool Development Board and Network Project on Sheep Improvement.
Theory and practical sessions on ovine reproductive technology, estrus synchronization and artificial insemination, etc. with focus on hands on training were also included in the training progarmme. This training programme provided sufficient knowledge and skill to practise AI to the participants.
The field veterinary officers of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand and Rajasthan participated in the training programme.
Artificial Insemination (AI) in sheep using fresh diluted semen has been developed by the CSWRI for use in field condition. It is the culmination of scientists of physiology and bio-chemistry division. With this technique, a large number of sheep can be covered for faster genetic up gradation and production of mutton and wool in different states.
