CRIDA Research Programmes Reviewed

Dr. A.K. Sikka, Deputy Director General (NRM), ICAR visited Central Research Institute of Dryland Agriculture (CRIDA), Hyderabad and reviewed the technical programmes in the light of 12th plan EFC on 17th February, 2014.

During the visit, Dr. Sikka also reviewed the thrust areas of AICRPDA and AICRPAM in terms of technical programmes, performance of centres, budgets, staff etc. He emphasized upon the need for promotion of rainfed agriculture to meet the requirements of food security in the country. He also reviewed the budget and new infrastructure facilities being established at several ICAR Institutes under NICRA. Dr. Sikka also complemented Dr. B. Venkateswarlu, Vice Chancellor, Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Agricultural University, Pharbani, Maharashtra and Former Director (CRIDA) for the efforts made by him in bringing CRIDA and NICRA to a new height. He also stressed on partnerships, policy, institutional support and location special technology to reach to the rainfed framers of the country.

On this occasion, Dr. Sikka also released a freeware software named RELATOR v1.0 developed by AICRPAM, CRIDA, Hyderabad. The software is intended to estimate the reliability of estimated/derived dataset by comparing with original/observed dataset using about 16 statistical tools.
