Global Animal Nutrition Conference at Bengaluru: April 20-22, 2014

Honourable Governor of Goa,  Shri Bharat Vir Wanchoo Inaugurated the ‘Global Animal Nutrition Conference on 20-04-2014 at hotel  Vivanta by Taj, Bengaluru. The theme of the conference is  'Climate Resilient Livestock Feeding Systems for Global Food Security'’  The Chief Guest emphasised the importance of livestock sector in India’s economy and livelihood security of marginal farmers. Dr. S. Ayyappan, Secretary DARE and DG, ICAR presided over the function. He  asked the scientific and development agencies to address the wide gap in demand and supply of feed and fodder in the country. He told that we have to tap new feed resources and improvise the utilisation of different agricultural byproducts as quality animal feeds.  Dr. Amrita Patel, Former Chairperson, NDDB,  Dr. Purvi Mehta-Bhatt from ILRI, Dr. K.M.L Pathak, DDG (Animal Sciences) were the guests of honour. This three day conference is being organised by ‘Animal Nutrition Society of India’ with the collaboration of National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology, Compound Livestock Feed Manufacturer’s Association and VIV India. Matters related to novel feed resources , improving feed utilization , feed  quality and ensuring food security in the changing climate scenario will be discussed during this global conference beingattended by more than 400 delegates from India and abroad.
