The ICAR foundation day was celebrated at NIANP as well as in the village, on 16th July 2014. An interactive farmer’s meet was arranged at Krishi Vigyan Kendra of Hadonahalli-village, Doddaballapur, Bangalore Rural, as a part of advisory and technical support to farmers to be in preparedness for facing the challenges of low rainfall. A multidisciplinary team of scientist visited and interacted with the farmers and provided inputs in the area of animal feeding, management and health.
At the institute a quiz contest was arranged involving students and the project associates and fellows. A talk was delivered by Dr J Ghosh, Senior Scientist, Animal Physiology Division on the activities of “Indian Council of Agricultural Research in the Development of Indian Agriculture and Education”. A video on “Drivers of Change” published by ICAR was also screened. This was followed by the address by the director, NIANP where he has reiterated the commitment of the institute for the welfare of livestock farmers. He congratulated the team of scientists who were awarded the best ICAR Team Research award for this year in animal sciences. He also stressed the need for teamwork and inter-institutional collaborative research.
