National Dairy Research Institute signs MoU with Sarvotham Care Ltd. for commercialization of two indigenous probiotic strains

In a brief ceremony held on Sept. 30, 2014 at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi, a Memorandum of Understanding was formally signed between NDRI, Karnal and Sarvotham Care Ltd. - a leading Hyderabad based nutraceutical company for commercialization of two indigenous probiotic strains. Dr. A.K. Srivastava, Director, NDRI and Mr. Mohan Krishna, the CEO of Sarvotham Care Ltd. signed the agreement.  Dr. S. Ayyappan, Secretary, DARE and Director General, ICAR. Presided on this occasion to witness the ceremony. He welcomed the officials from both the sides and congratulated Dr. A.K. Srivastava and his team of inventors from NDRI involved in developing the technology and transferring the same to Sarvotham Care Ltd. for commercialization. He also thanked Mr. Mohan Krishna for taking this initiative to launch the two indigenous probiotic strains into the market for the benefit of Indian consumers through different foods and as direct fed microbial. Dr. Ayyappan extended his best wishes and good luck to both the parties and hoped their joint effort would lead to launch of a variety of novel food formulations after value addition with the two indigenous probiotic strains. He further lauded the research work being carried out at NDRI in the field of probiotics and functional foods.

Dr. Srivastava apprised the Director General about other technologies successfully commercialized by NDRI in the recent past. He thanked Dr. Ayyappan for his gracious presence and encouragement to the scientists.
