Dr. S. Ayyappan, Secretary, DARE and DG, ICAR visited the ICAR-Zonal Project Directorate, Zone-IV, Kanpur here today.

Dr. Ayyappan, in his address, highlighted the status of XIIth plan EFC and directed the Programme Coordinators and Scientists of KVKs to make their impact on the indicators of footfalls, multiplier effects of the technologies demonstrated, actual reduction in the disease and paste incidence with reference to the particular crop and the outcome against the benchmarking. He expressed that the KVKs in the district must target for yield enhancement to the extent of 25 to 30 % using varietal and other interventions. He also stressed for developing the district specific crop plan, collection of indigenous germ plasm and planting materials, forming Farmer Producer Organization as well as Women Organizations and making more frequent field visits also. He also interacted with the Progressive Farmers.

Earlier, Dr. Atar Singh, Zonal Project Director welcomed DG and other esteemed guests and presented the detailed accounts of the Krishi Vigyan Kendras in the States of Uttar Pradesh. and Uttarakhand. He highlighted the new initiatives taken by this Directorate to invigorate the performance of KVKs.

Programme Coordinators and Scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) of the districts Kannauj, Kanpur Dehat, Barabanki, Pratagarh, Unnao and Auraiya attended this meeting. An exhibition was also arranged the on this occasion.
