Training Programme on “Pulse Production: Challenges and Way Forward under Organic Conditions” concludes

The three-day Training Programme on “Pulse Production: Challenges and Way Forward under Organic Conditions” organized by the ICAR-Research Centre for North-Eastern Hills Region, Sikkim Centre, Tadong, Sikkim from 21st to 23rd March, 2022 concluded today.

Delivering the valedictory address, Dr. Ramgopal Laha, Joint Director, ICAR-Research Complex for NEH Region, Sikkim Centre stressed on the need of enhancing the pulse production in the North-Eastern Regions for doubling the farmer’s income. The challenges and the way forward for enhancing the productivity of pulse in the region were underlined by Dr. Laha.

Dr. E. Lamalakshmi Devi, Scientist (Genetics and Plant Breeding), ICAR-Research Complex for NEH Region highlighted the role of the high yielding short-duration varieties of Pulses for enhancing the cropping intensity and the overall income of the farmers in the North-Eastern Regions.

The programme was aimed at imparting the knowledge on enhancing the pulse production in the Regions.

A total of 20 VLWs, Members of FPOs, Field Assistants / Staff Members of State Agriculture Department, Government of Sikkim and Progressive Farmers from the East & South Sikkim participated in the programme.
