Farmers Day cum Exhibition at ICAR – Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Research Centre, Datia

Dr. Narottam Mishra, Minister for Water Resources, Parliamentary Affairs and Public Relations, Govt. of Madhya Pradesh addressed the farmers in the concluding session of Farmers Day-cum- Exhibition at ICAR – Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Research Centre, Datia (M.P.). In his address as the chief guest, he emphasized on the adoption of new agro-techniques of farm production vis - a - vis switch over to crops as per the new trends in the market for getting higher income. He also elaborated the role of traditional farming wisdom in protection of the environment and impressed upon the farmers to carry forward the wisdom with new techniques to mitigate the climate change.

Dr Misra released two Hindi calendar on ‘Agronomic measures for soil and water conservation in the Bundelkhand region’ and ‘Engineering measures for soil and water conservation in the Bundelkhand region’ and felicitated progressive farmers.

 Prof. Arvind Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Rani Laxmi Bai Central Agricultural University, Jhansi, Special Guest, highlighted the role of educating the farmers about the farm technologies in doubling the farm income by 2022 and requested the farmers to interact with technocrats and line departments to derive the maximum benefit.

Dr. O.P. Chaturvedi, Director, ICAR – CAFRI, Jhansi, Guest of Honour, stressed the importance and adoption of various agroforestry technological options to get higher farms benefits and mitigating and adaptation to climate change.

Dr. P.K. Mishra, Director in his welcome address ured the farmers to adopt the various soil and water conservation technologies developed by the research centre, Datia.

Shri Avadesh Nayak, Vice President, Madhya Pradesh Pathyapustak Nigam, also graced the occasion.

An exhibition was put up to  showcasw various technologies/products developed by ICAR – IGFRI, Jhansi, ICAR-CAFRI, Jhansi, KVK, Datia, RARI, Jhansi, Development Alternative, District Horticulture Office, Jhansi and ICAR –IISWC RC, Datia.

More than 450 farmers from Datia and nearby district participated in the one day event.
