Workshop on “Formation of Women FPOs for Entrepreneurship Development and Self-reliance (Aatma Nirbharta)” organized

The ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar, Odisha organized the one-day Training Programme-cum-Workshop on “Formation of Women FPOs for Entrepreneurship Development and Self-reliance (Aatma Nirbharta)” under the ICAR-National Agricultural Science Fund Project in the Sankilo Village of Nischintakoili Block, Cuttack District, Odisha today.

Dr. Biswanath Sahoo, Principal Scientist, Animal Nutrition, ICAR-CIWA, Bhubaneswar underlined the role of Women FPOs in promoting the dairy Entrepreneurship and self-reliance. The scientific method of preparing the different value-added products from Milk and their market linkage through the WFPO to get the maximum financial benefits was also outlined by Dr. Sahoo.

Earlier, delivering the welcome address, Dr. Lipi Das Principal Scientist (Agricultural Extension), ICAR highlighted the importance of forming the Women Farmers’ Producers’ Organizations for the Entrepreneurship Development and self-reliance (Aatma Nirbharta). The up-gradation of the Women Farmers’ Group “Ananya Mahila Bikas Samiti” to WFPO “Ananaya Farmers’ Producers’ Company Limited” to fetch the market linkage, better price and profits was stressed by Dr. Das.

The Paddy Straw Mushroom Spawn Bottles and inputs for Paddy Straw Mushroom Cultivation were distributed to promote the Entrepreneurship among the farm women.

About 70 participants including the Scientists of ICAR-CIWA, Farm Women, Farmers and Personnel from Line Departments participated in the programme.
