“Virtual Zonal Review Workshop of Farmer FIRST Programme” organized

The ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Kolkata organized the “Virtual Zonal Review Workshop of Farmers FIRST Programme (FFP) for three ICAR Institutes and one State Agricultural University from Odisha” here today.

In his inaugural address, Dr. V.P. Chahal, ADG (Agricultural Extension), ICAR stressed on up-scaling the best technologies / practices of FFP involving the State Line Departments and other Organizations through the convergence mode, inclusion of interventions under Natural Resource Management / Enterprise-based Modules considering the Natural Farming, Precision Farming, use of Drones in Agriculture, etc., at the Institute level.

Prof. P. Mishra, Dean (Extension Education), Odisha University of Agriculture & Technology, Bhubaneswar, Odisha appreciated the successful implementation of the Project and the involvement of NGO the in Farmers’ Producers’ Organization formation. The initiative of the “Farm Pond” by the Government of Odisha and Fish-based Integrated Farming System Development was also underlined by Prof. Mishra.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. S.K. Roy, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata stressed on the approval of new ZPMC Members for ATARI Kolkata, change of Villages after a span of 4 to 5 Years, selection & shifting of new Villages and inclusion of good modules including livestock & fisheries, etc.

The Workshop was aimed at reviewing the physical and financial progress during the Year - 2021-22 and to finalize the Action Plan for the Year - 2022-23.
