Farmers Fair on “Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojna” at Mathura

A one-day farmer fair and awareness programme on Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojna was organized at Krishi Vigyan Kendra under U.P. Pt.  Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Veterinary University, Mathura today.

Smt. Hema Malini, Member of Parliament, Mathura Loksabha, in her inaugural address, briefed about the major features of the scheme. She thanked the Prime Minister for launching farming friendly new crop insurance scheme and appealed the farmers to derive maximum benefits out of it. She encouraged the farming community to adopt intercropping, mixed cropping system, organic farming, water conservation, judicious use of water in crop,  use of Neem coated urea and animal rearing.  She appreciated Veterinary University, Mathura for the establishing Gokul Gram  to conserve indigenous cattle through Go-Anusandhan Sansthan of the University. 

A publication “Brij Mein Krishi Evam Pashupalan” published by KVK was released by the Chief Guest.

Shri Pooran Prakash, M.L.A. Badeo, Mathura stated that innovative insurance scheme of “Pradhan Manti Fasal Beema Yojna” is unique of its kind and the farmers of Mathura region will be benefited with this scheme. He emphasized the need for timely release of compensation by the bank for the farmers.

Dr A.K. Singh, Deputy Director General (Extension) ICAR briefed about the major activities of KVKs and stated that new and innovative front line extension programmes on soil health card, pre-Rabi and pre-Kharif campaign, organic farming,       Mera – Gaon, Mera - Gaurav are being organized by KVK Mathura regularly .

Dr K.M.L. Pathak, Vice-Chancellor, DUVASU briefed about the activities being taken by the University for enhancing the income and profitability of farming community of Mathura region. He highlighted the major achievements of KVKs under the university jurisdiction.

Shri Manish Kumar, Chief Development Officer, Mathura elaborated the major features of the various schemes being launched by State as well as Central Government and requested the farming community to take advantage of these schemes. He further emphasized on the pricing and marketing policy of the government for upliftment and economic empowerment of the farmers and provision of on-line registration for these schemes.

More than one thousand farmers including 100 women farmers from different parts of Mathura District participated in fair. Public representatives, district level government offices, private and NGOs representative were also present in the programme.  

An exhibition was also organized during the event to showcase the various technologies in which different departments from state and centre government of Mathura district participated. Farmers’ friendly literature on “Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojna” and other technological packages were distributed amongst participating farmers.
