Awareness Campaign against Residue Burning

The Krishi Vigyan Kendra of the National Dairy Research Insitute, Karnal organized an awareness Campaign against Residue Burning as a part of Swach Bharat Pakhwara (16-30th October 2016) here today.

Sh. Mandip Brar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Karnal as a Chief Guest in his address stressed that every individual of the society should feel responsible in maintaining their surroundings utmost clean. He added that the communicable diseases can be reduced to a greater extent especially in the rural areas once they are maintained clean. He urged farmers and input-delears to keep their surroundings and public places neat and clean and also dissemination this message to others.

Dr. Rajbir Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Ludhiana, Guest of Honour, stressed that due to buring of the crop residues of paddy and wheat especially in the Punjab and Haryana states lot of pollution is casued that requires immediate attention of the farming community for which the alternatives are available. A special campaign in the form of Chetna Month is being organized in Rice-wheat growing region not to burn crop stubbles.

On this occasion, Dr. Rajbir Singh administered the oath not to burn residue and keep surroundings and public places neat and clean.

Officials of the KRIBHCO, Karnal and NIC, Delhi shared their views on distributions of the fertilizers linking through Aadhar Card.

More than 800 farmers of different villages of all the 6 blocks of the district including the dealers of the fertilizers participated in the event.
