A review–cum-planning meeting of nodal officers of Krishi Vigyan Kendras of Rajasthan and Gujarat was convened by the ICAR-ATARI, Jodhpur to review the Seed Hub Project. Dr A. K. Singh, DDG (Agricultural Extension), chief guest of the meeting, appreciated the progress of seed hub project being implemented through the KVKs of both the states. He said that the pulses are the important commodities for nutritional securities and the efforts of the KVKs will be helpful to meet demand of pulses as well as to reduce imports. He also emphasised on the developing infrastructure for storage, processing, certification and registration of the seed produced with the logo. Newly released and farmers’ preferred varieties must be undertaken for seed production to fulfil the demand of the seed. Studies for documentation of the contribution of extension, research and policy in terms of increase in production and area must be conducted, he noted. He appealed to KVKs for uploading the activities of the seed hub project on the KVK portal. He stressed on the effective implementation of the various activities and programmes such as Skill Development, National Food Security Mission, National Mission Oil seeds and Oil Palm, Soil Health Card, ARYA, and use of ICTs in technology dissemination.
