The poverty level in Raebareli and Barabanki districts of U.P. is pathetic. Small land holders comprise nearly 60% of the population. The productivity and profitability (wheat-paddy main crop) is very poor and no other livelihood opportunity is available. Many of the farmers want to improve/ diversity their livelihood status but lack economic (cash) resources and exposure. Commercial banana production was used as cash crop for economic empowerment and diversification of livelihood.

Jamtara is one of the disadvantage district of Jharkhand state in India.  The district is also blessed with forest of Butea monosperma, commonly called the ‘flame of forest’. Good news for mango exporters

Mango, the king of fruits, has a great export potential due to exquisite taste and flavor. Our country ranks first in area and production of Mango with 2.31 million ha and 12.75 MT, respectively. But infestation with oriental Fruit Fly (Bactocera dorsalis) has been a major impediment to mango export. It accounts for about 27 percent of the harvesting loss.
