The ICAR-Directorate on Poultry Research, Hyderabad celebrated its 33rd Foundation Day today.
The Chief Guest of the occasion, Dr. Bhupendra Nath Tripathi, Deputy Director General (Animal Science), ICAR lauded the ICAR-DPR’s contributions in improving the poultry production in the country, particularly, the backyard poultry production through the dissemination of improved chicken varieties throughout the country. Dr. Tripathi highlighted the need to give importance to the research in the areas of precision farming, trans-disciplinary research and use of artificial intelligence for further improving the productivity of poultry farming.
The Deputy Director General released a Booklet entitled “Production of low cholesterol chicken: A biotech intervention” during the occasion.
The Guest of Honor, Shri P. Venugopal Reddy, Chairman, Ekalavya Foundation, Hyderabad emphasized on the need for collaboration of the different stakeholders for realizing the goal of doubling the farmers’ income through interventions in animal husbandry activities, particularly, in backyard poultry rearing.
The Guest of Honor, Dr. S. Vaithiyanathan, Director, ICAR-National Research Centre on Meat, Hyderabad emphasized on the processing of poultry produce, such as, meat and egg for enhancing the farmers’ income.
Dr. R.N. Chatterjee, Director, ICAR-DPR, Hyderabad highlighted the Directorate’s contribution in developing the poultry sector in the country through its germplasm, technologies and extension activities.
The scientists from the ICAR Institutes including Hyderabad Veterinary College were also present during the occasion.
