Shri Radha Mohan Singh, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare inaugurated the Administrative & Academic Building of Indian Agricultural Research Institute-Jharkhand at Gouria Karma near Barhi in Hazaribagh and laid the Foundation Stone of the guest house today.
In his inaugural address, Shri Singh reiterated the urgent need of second green revolution for feeding the burgeoning population that is nearing to cross 150 crores by 2030. He also accentuated the need to identify the untapped potential of Eastern States including Jharkhand that are essential for accelerating the Second Green Revolution in the country. The Union Minister also mentioned that the institute’s administrative building has been constructed within a span of about 3.5 years and will provide the Post Graduate Education to the aspirants of agricultural studies from the next academic session, that is, 2019-2020.
Shri Jayant Sinha, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation said the Institute with Deemed University status in Jharkhand will help in enabling to harness the potential of agriculture, animal sciences, fisheries, horticulture and forestry and usher farmers’ prosperity of eastern states in general and Jharkhand in particular.
In his welcome address, Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) outlined the ICAR-IARI, New Delhi’s contributions. He described the importance of the second IARI like Institution at Jharkhand for agricultural research and human resource development of the country with the support of Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare.
Dr. P. Kausahl, Vice Chancellor, BAU, Ranchi; Dr. A.K. Singh, Director, IARI & DDG (Extension), ICAR; Shri Ramesh Gholap, Director Agriculture, Government of Jharkhand; ADG (Seeds), ICAR; Joint Director (Extension), IARI along with several officials from centre and state governments and ICAR institutes also marked their presence during the occasion.
Dr. J.P. Sharma, Joint Director (Extension), IARI, New Delhi presented the vote of thanks during the occasion.
