Dr N.K. Tyagi, Former Member of the Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board and Former Director, ICAR-Central Soil Salinity Research Institute, Karnal, visited ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa, today. During his extensive visit, Dr Tyagi toured various experimental plots and facilities across the ICAR-CCARI campus. He explored the Agroecotourism unit, experimental plots on natural resource management, crop science, horticulture, animal sciences, and fisheries, as well as the biomass recycling units, including the vermicomposting unit. He also visited the Jalopchar facility and the demonstration unit for the processing and value addition of cattle dung and urine—an initiative focused on zero waste through the recycling of water and nutrients. Additionally, Dr Tyagi toured the AET hut and the Navagraha–Rashi–Nakshatra Vatika, appreciating the innovative efforts to promote a sustainable ecosystem through model demonstrations.

Dr Tyagi also visited several outreach activity sites of the Institute in both North and South Goa, where he interacted with progressive farmers in the field. Later, he met with the Institute's scientists, subject matter specialists, and technical officers, offering valuable insights on enhancing foreign collaborations, boosting the productivity of research programmes, and providing key recommendations for increasing cropping intensity in Goa through effective land and water management techniques.

Dr Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, also graced the occasion.

A team of scientists and technical officers coordinated the visits and interactive sessions.
