Dr Rajbir Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR, visited RASS–Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Karakambadi, Tirupati, today and reviewed its activities.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Rajbir Singh appreciated the KVK’s services to the farming community for over three decades. He emphasized the pivotal role of KVKs in technology transfer, enhancing farm income and developing the skills of rural youth in agriculture and allied sectors. He also interacted with progressive farmers and encouraged the adoption of cost-effective, scientific farming practices.
Dr Shaik N. Meera, Director, ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Zone X, Hyderabad, highlighted the transformative role of KVKs in promoting agricultural innovation across the zone.
Dr S. Venkataratnam, Chairman, RASS–KVK and General Secretary, RASS, outlined the organization’s rural development initiatives, while the Senior Scientist and Head, presented the KVK’s achievements in technology dissemination, farm mechanization, natural resource management and farmer-oriented campaigns.
During the farmer–scientist interaction, experts from ANGRAU, SVVU and RARS, Tirupati, provided advisories on contingency crop planning under El Niño conditions, soil and water conservation, natural farming and scientific livestock management. KVK publications were released, and biopesticides, micronutrient mixtures and mineral mixtures were distributed to beneficiary farmers for conducting demonstrations.
The program was attended by university officials, scientists, RASS–KVK personnel and more than 30 progressive farmers.
