National Campaign on “Advances in Animal Health” @Bharat Ka Amrut Mahotsav

The ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh organized the 2nd Interface Meeting Series of National Campaign on “Advances in Animal Health” today.

In his address, the Chief Guest, Dr. Bhupendra Nath Tripathi, Deputy Director General (Animal Science), ICAR, applauded the Veterinary Professionals’ contributions in controlling and eradicating the several dreaded animal diseases. Dr. Tripathi also urged for cooperation in controlling and eradicating the four major animal diseases like FMD, Brucellosis, PPR and Classical Swine Fever too.

The Guest of Honor, Dr. Praveen Mallik, Animal Husbandry Commissioner, Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying outlined the various programmes being run by the Department for the control and eradication of the various livestock diseases. The need of latest technologies and improvement of indigenous germplasm and control of several emerging diseases was also emphasized by Dr. Malik.

In his address, the Guest of Honor, Dr. Ashok Kumar, ADG (Animal Science), ICAR accentuated on the need of popularizing the latest technologies likes various ART, Sex Sorted Semen, Genomic Selection for Conservation and improvement of indigenous germplasm and the need of development of newer vaccines.

The Guest of Honor, Shri Sachindra Pratap Singh, Commissioner, Animal Husbandry Department, Government of Maharashtra stated that the organization of Interface Meetings by ICAR can minimize the gap between the technology developed at Research Institute and end-user.

Dr. Dhananjay D. Parkale, Additional Commissioner, Department of Animal Husbandry, Government of Maharashtra also marked his presence as the Guest of Honor during the occasion.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. Triveni Dutt, Director, ICAR-IVRI, Izatnagar apprised about the Institute’s notable contributions in the eradication of several diseases.

The Campaign was aimed at apprising the Field Veterinary Officers about the latest advances and technologies developed by the Institute for improving the livestock health and production.

A total of 231 including Joint Commissioner, District Animal Husbandry Officers, Deputy Commissioners, Scientists and Research Scholars of IVRI, etc., participated during the occasion.

The Campaign was organized as a part of the @Bharat Ka Amrut Mahotsav to commemorate 75 Years of India’s Independence.
