Webinar on “Applications of Remote Sensing in Precision Agriculture” @Bharat Ka Amrut Mahotsav

The ICAR-Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna, Bihar organized a Webinar on “Applications of Remote Sensing in Precision Agriculture” today.

In his inaugural address, Dr. Ujjwal Kumar, Director, ICAR-RCER, Patna, Bihar highlighted the importance of applications of Remote Sensing in agriculture in converting the Green Revolution to the Evergreen Revolution. Dr. Kumar also outlined the role of Remote Sensing in Precision Farming.

The Eminent Speaker, Dr. Suresh Kumar, Group Head, Agriculture & Soils Department, Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, Indian Space Research Organization, Department of Space, Government of India, Dehradun, Uttarakhand provided the information on the theme. He underlined the information on the applications of Remote Sensing Imagery and data in crop classification, crop growth assessment, crop water stress detection, predicting insect-pest infestation, soil landscape delineation, digital soil nutrient mapping and yield forecasting and assessment.

The Webinar was aimed at creating the awareness among the scientists, faculties, students and stakeholders about the use of advanced techniques of remote sensing for enhancing the production efficiency and input-use efficiency in precision agriculture.

The Webinar organized as a part of the “Bharat Ka Amrut Mahotsav” to commemorate 75 Years of India’s Independence registered participation by around 200 participants.
